Catalon is a polymeric fibrous ion-exchange filtering material (modified polyacrylonitrile), which is able to bind both cations and anions and form consolidated compounds as a result of heavy metals ions adsorption.

Catalon has not only a chelating properties (selective removal of heavy metal cations), and ampholytic.
It means that:
- Catalon removes not only cations such as copper, cadmium, lead, and anions: organic impurities, chlor-organic compounds, iron bacteria and colloidal iron.
- Catalon contains silver in metallic form, preventing the growth of bacteria.
- Catalon maintains natural mineral composition of the source water.
Catalon effectively purifies water from iron, lead, heavy metals, reduces water hardness.
